AFSPA could quickly be lifted from whole Assam: Amit Shah | India Information – Instances of India

GUWAHATI: House minister Amit Shah on Tuesday exuded confidence that AFSPA will quickly be revoked from whole Assam, as improved legislation and order and peace accords with militant outfits over the past six years have already led to its partial withdrawal within the state.
He stated as a result of efforts of the Centre and CM Himanta Biswa Sarma, many of the militant outfits have entered into peace agreements and the “day is just not far when the complete state can be fully free from insurgency and violence”.
Shah was addressing a gathering after presenting the President’s Color, a particular flag, to the Assam Police. It’s the highest honour to be given to any army or police unit in recognition of remarkable service rendered to the nation, each in peace and struggle.
