India’s natural meals merchandise exports rise 51% to USD 1bn in 2020-21


The nation’s exports of natural meals merchandise rose by 51 per cent year-on-year to USD 1 billion (Rs 7,078 crore) in 2020-21, the commerce ministry stated on Tuesday.

The principle items which recorded wholesome progress in exports embrace oil cake meal, oilseeds, fruit pulps and purees, cereals and millets, spices and condiments, tea, dry fruits, sugar, pulses, espresso, and important oil.

India’s organic products have been exported to 58 international locations together with the USA, European Union, Canada, Nice Britain, Australia, Switzerland, Israel, and South Korea.

Natural merchandise are at the moment exported from India provided that they’re produced, processed, packed, and labelled as per the necessities of the Nationwide Programme for Natural Manufacturing (NPOP).

The NPOP certification has been recognised by the European Union and Switzerland which allows India to export unprocessed plant merchandise to those international locations with out the requirement of further certification, it added.

Additional, it stated that to facilitate commerce with main importing international locations, negotiations are underway with Taiwan, Korea, Japan, Australia, UAE, New Zealand for reaching mutual recognition agreements for exports of natural merchandise from India.
