After the passing of Lata Mangeshkar, ETimes reached out to Noor Jehan’s daughter Nazia Ejaz, who recalled reminiscences of the time when her mom and Lataji used to satisfy and reminisce concerning the previous Bombay days. Nazia revealed, “Music has no boundaries and finds its method on to our hearts – and speaks to our souls. Lataji is within the hearts of all those that heard her surili aawaz. My mom, Madam Noor Jehan, had the utmost respect and affection for Lataji and appreciation of her expertise.”
Nazia additional revealed that Noor Jehan and Lata Mangeshkar would meet on many events in London. She stated, “They have been in a position to meet in London a couple of occasions whereas vacationing there. I had the privilege of seeing them collectively. There was heat and respect and lots of tales of the previous Mumbai and folks maa had left behind. Maa would cook dinner for Lataji and they might reminisce. As soon as I noticed Lataji nearly shy in entrance of my maa when she requested her to sing Ae Dil-e-Nadan, Khayyam saab’s wonderful composition for Razia Sultan. Maa requested her to sing it for her. She cherished that tune – particularly the silence – used throughout the composition.”
Like thousands and thousands around the globe, Noor Jehan, too, was an admirer of Lataji’s expertise. As Nazia revealed, “I bear in mind, maa as soon as stated in an interview, ‘Lata Lata hai’. All those that love music, all those that have heard Lataji’s golden voice, mourn her – she is going to endlessly be in our hearts. I’m very grateful to have had all these nice masters because the soundtrack of my life.”
