Parliament passes invoice to regularise unauthorised colonies in Delhi


Parliament on Wednesday handed the Nationwide Capital Territory of Delhi Legal guidelines (Particular Provisions) Second (Modification) Invoice, 2021, to regularise unauthorised colonies in Delhi.

Whereas the Rajya Sabha had handed the Invoice on February 9, it sailed by way of the Lok Sabha on Wednesday.

Minister of State (Impartial Cost) of Housing and City Affairs Hardeep Singh Puri advised the Lok Sabha that the Invoice would offer protection to unauthorised colonies from sealing until December 31, 2023.

Puri whereas replying to a debate on the Invoice stated the inhabitants of Delhi as per the 2011 census is 1.6 crore. “I count on the inhabitants of Delhi in 2021 census shall be near 2 crore, if not greater,” Puri added.

He stated the “historical past of the issue of unauthorised colonies within the NCT of Delhi has been that previous to this, no authorities took up this situation with any diploma of seriousness”.

There are round 1,700 unauthorised colonies in Delhi.
