NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court docket on Friday refused additional postponement of NEET-PG, slated for Might 21 for admission to PG medical programs, saying any additional delay in holding the take a look at would result in lack of availability of full power of resident docs in hospitals, impeding affected person care amenities.
A bench of Justices D Y Chandrachud and Surya Kant mentioned NEET-PG 2022-23, which was earlier scheduled to be held on March 12, has already been postponed to Might 21 due to the pandemic-caused delay in examination and admissions to PG medical programs via NEET-PG 2021-22.
“Because the nation is getting again on observe after pandemic-caused delays, any additional delay in holding NEET-PG will delay the admissions and result in fewer resident docs in hospitals, that are working with two batches of resident docs as an alternative of the overall requirement of three batches,” the bench mentioned.
It agreed with further Solicitor Common Aishwarya Bhati that suspending the examination additional may have debilitating cascading impact on affected person care in addition to subsequent examinations, which might be held in January 2023 as per the schedule laid down by the SC in Ashish Ranjan case in 2016.
“The Nationwide Board of Examination in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) has already booked on-line take a look at centres throughout the nation,” Bhati mentioned.
