GUWAHATI: Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma on Sunday mentioned the proposed uniform civil code (UCC) should be applied to curb polygamy within the larger curiosity of Muslim ladies.
“If the uniform civil code doesn’t get applied, the polygamy system will proceed. A person will marry three-four occasions, curbing the basic rights of a lady,” mentioned Sarma.
“Uniform civil code must be applied for the larger curiosity of our Muslim ladies,” he added.
