The overall wheat export stood at 70.30 lakh tonnes until March 21 this fiscal, with most shipments to Bangladesh adopted by Sri Lanka and UAE, Parliament was knowledgeable on Friday.

As each Ukraine and Russia are main exporters of wheat with greater than 25 per cent whole share within the international wheat commerce, there’s scope for India to extend exports of wheat, Minister of State for Commerce and Business Anupriya Patel stated in a written reply to the Rajya Sabha.

“The overall export of wheat when it comes to amount throughout 2021-22 (until 21st March 2022) was 70.30 LMT,” she stated.

From April 2021 – March 21, 2022, exports of wheat to Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and UAE stood at 39,37,438 tonnes; 5,80,819 tonnes; and 4,69,851 tonnes, respectively.

In one other reply, she stated India has exported seafood merchandise price USD 7.16 billion in April-February 2021-22, which is an all-time excessive export of marine merchandise.

The US Division of State has banned wild-caught shrimp imports from India on the alleged grounds that the fishing strategies being adopted in India (kinds of nets) are adversely affecting the ocean turtle inhabitants, she stated.

“India has exported seafood merchandise of worth…USD 7,165 million throughout April-February 2021-22, which is an all-time excessive export of marine merchandise,” Patel added.

In a separate reply, she stated that India’s merchandise trade with South Asian international locations has virtually doubled within the final ten years from USD 13.83 billion in 2010-11 to USD 25.45 billion in 2020-21.

“Beneath ‘Neighbourhood First’ coverage, India stays dedicated to constructing a linked, built-in, safe and affluent South Asia,” the minister stated.

In a separate reply, Commerce and Business Minister Piyush Goyal stated that recognised startups have elevated from 726 in 2016-17 to 66,810 in 2021-22 (as of March 28, 2022).
